Brewing Root Beer: Lord Vincent l'Austere
Participants will be able to bring home a bottle of root beer made in class.
This class will be part hands-on and part demonstration.
Class limit: 14
Class fee: $1
Requirements: Participants interested in taking home a bottle of root beer made in class need to bring a clean one-liter plastic soda pop bottle with screw cap to the class.
Veil Beading: Carmilla da Draga
This beginner's class will teach you how to add a beautiful bead trim to the edge of your veil or garb. There will be 4-5 different techniques taught through a hands-on kit.

Hands-on embroidery class. Class fee includes kit and handout.

Hands-on Felting Workshop: Sayyida Halima bint al-Rabii'
1 felt rug will be made, from start to finish. Please drop in at anytime, from 11am to 4pm, to learn about felting or to help with any part of the process. The finished rug will be donated as a prize for Cynnabar's Grande Tourney on January 12.

Roundtable for current, past and future warranted heralds especially in Pentamere, but all are most welcome. Other than getting to know each other better, we'll talk about current and upcoming heraldry-related activities, and potential improvements.

An explanation and round table discussion about how to interact with the media at events and demos for seneschals, chatelaines, and demo coordinators led by the Midrealm Media Liaison.
Musician's Jam: Lady Sibyl of Blackwater
A structured jam session, where we will work on dance music, such as that found in Teilman Susato, and other sources. All instruments are welcome--drums too! Dancers may audit the class, as well as get some dancing in!

Introduction to Calligraphy: Lady Hannah Schreiber
Learn hands-on the basic tools and materials needed to begin practicing the art of Calligraphy, as well as the techniques which will provide you with a basis to expand your skills. Receive detailed technical advice on choosing pens, paper, and inks, setting up your workspace, and mastering various pen angles. Pens, ink, paper and workspace provided for first 10 participants. Feel free to bring your own materials if you already have them.

Folkloric Style Middle Eastern Dance: Sayyida Fatima bint al-Rabii'
An introduction to various styles of folkloric dance. Class will be part lecture and part active participation. Class will include warm-up, basic combinations, and discussion of historical dance.
Natural Dyeing 101 or 'Ooo! Pretty Colors': Lady Lydia de Berce and Lady Satine de la Courcel
A basic description of the principles of natural dyeing, including period and modern dye recipes, descriptions of necessary equipment, protective wear, and where to get supplies.

Beyond Cookbooks: Mistress Helewyse de Birkestad
This class will look at the role of dietary and agricultural texts in recreating the cuisine of 16th century Italy. Very often the recipe collections fail us, when this happens the researcher is forced into different areas of study. The various dietary, herbal and agricultural texts of 16th century Italy allow us a different glimpse of the cuisine and food ways of the day. The class will cover several of the book styles available giving examples from each.

Robbing Peter to feed Paul: Mistress Alisond de Brebeuf
Get a bigger, better feast than usual for far less money than usual. This class will cover many methods of doing more with less, including the use of "waste" from one dish to produce another.

Entertainment: Would you like to provide entertainment
during the feast, or throughout the day? Please contact Baron
Master Midair MacCormaic if you wish to volunteer.
Gaming: We will have a game room set up with a few period
games to help wile away the cold winter weather. Please make free
to bring your own games and invite others to join you in a friendly
challenge.
Game Room Schedule
Backgammon from period manuscripts:
10AM to 11AM: The focus will be on the Alfonso
MS of
1283 as it relates to games at tables
(backgammon).
11AM to noon: Will cover the MS Royal 13 A xviii
dated
between 1300 and 1330. This is an
English/Norman manuscript covering some of
the more popular varieties of table games
(backgammon) of the time.
Chess: Period versions of chess will be looked
at.
Both European and non-European chess variants
will be taught. Again the Alfonso MS will be
the primary tool for studying European Chess.
noon to 1PM: European and Middle Eastern chess.
1PM to 2PM: Chess from non-European sources will
be
looked at: Mongol, Chinese, and Japanese
games will be covered.
Cards: Cards were introduced to Europe in the
late 1300s
2PM to 3PM: Period card games for 2 people will
be taught.
3PM to 4PM: Primero will be taught and played!
Primero is
a period game similar to poker. Grab some
friends and come play a fast and fun gambling style game.
Games will be played as they are taught. The games room will be
open for people to come in and play games other than those being
taught at the time. Some boards will be available, but to guarantee
that there is one for you, you may wish to bring your own. There
will also be information available on games by era: early period,
Viking, Elizabethan, etcetera.
