Arts & Sciences Classes for Kingdom Twelfth Night

********* The Barony of Cynnabar will be hosting the Middle Kingdom Authentic Artifact Showcase at 12th Night.

In order to encourage entries at this late date, we are adding a second category where an object you create need not be a copy of an extant object, and if you would like to present a performance, you may arrange to do that. Think of this second way of presenting as being more like an A&S competition entry but without a competition or judging involved. This is your chance to show how well you can make a medieval thing, without formal judgement. It is simply a chance for you to show-off your skills and to educate others in something really cool. Seating will be provided at the display tables, so if you wish to do so you may sit with your display and talk about it with people. If you want to leave a note pad out for comments, that is also up to you.

To enter either category A or B, including performance, please register with Master Ranthulfr at the display area when you arrive. You may pick up your display at any time during the day until 4pm. All items must be picked up by 4 pm. If you wish to perform it would be helpful to arrange before the event by contacting Master Ranthulfr (see below) so we can make sure you have reasonable space and fit with other things happening.

So in category "A" you may present an object according to these instructions found in the Middle Kingdom A&S Handbook:

The Middle Kingdom Authentic Artifact Showcase (MKAAS) is a display of recreations of Middle Ages/Renaissance period artifacts. This venue is perfect for the person who wishes to thoroughly research and recreate an actual artifact that existed in period. Entrants are required to produce written documentation, including a picture of the actual period artifact they are reproducing, for general distribution. The documentation should include a description of the period artifact, construction techniques used to make the reproduction and a list of works consulted. The entrant's name, address and other such information may appear on the documentation.

Or, you may submit in category "B" as such:

You may present for display an object or performance intended to recreate something appearing to be what an original would be like during the time it would have come from. It should not be something modified for SCA culture, but instead be aimed at appearing authentic in material and design. For example, an SCA award scroll or butted aluminum chainmail would be inherently different from a real medieval object and therefore not appropriate. You are encouraged to document your entry with something to be read by the populace so they can appreciate your accuracy. You don't have to be perfect with it, since it isn't being judged, but try your best -and good luck to you!

If you present a food item, please indicate whether you intend for it to be sampled by the populace, and if that is the case, be sure to supply something obvious apart from documentation indicating ingredients.
